Municipal Law

Municipal law primarily concerns cities and counties, commonly referred to as municipalities. It controls the government and policies in such regions. This addresses police powers, planning and zoning, taxes, expenditures, project management and contracts, and ordinance implementation and enforcement.

Local city or town councils make the majority of municipal laws. The residents have significant influence over these laws, as they elect council members. The rules may differ significantly because the composition and priorities of the councils in various municipalities vary.
